We finished off the term with some more great activities. Above are just some of the photos from the disco.
We went to the vets to see how a vet helps animals. Most of us want to be a vet when we grow up now. Having won the attendence prize twice this term as well as our own savings we had over $26 saved and decided to get some more fish for the tropical tank. It took a while to decide what to get but they all look really happy in the tank now.

Abbey's grandparents gave us some swan plants. They had eggs and little caterpillars on them. We watched them each day as they grew and changed into chrysalids. When each chrysalis turned dark it split open and a monarch butterfly crept out. It has been very exciting and we have learnt about the life cycle of a monarch butterfly.

Days of the week

We have been learning the days of the week and the order in which they appear. We practice the day before and after a given day as well. Miss Lisa has taught us this ditty and we are getting really good at it. This video will take a while to download but once you have it, it is worth watching.

Kickstart Breakfast

At Parklands School we are given free breakfast twice a week and some of Room 11 went along to join in on the first day, Feb 11. Natalie and Miss Lisa are enjoying their cereal and toast as they chat about the day to come.

Welcome to a new year and some great activities in Room 11. We have started the year with 10 students Fiona and Miss Lisa, a student teacher from America. Miss Lisa is with us for six weeks and we intend making the most of the great pupil teacher ratio. Already we have had a lot of fun learning about each other by researching and graphing some of our favourite things. We are learning to read the graphs and make conclusions. Of course we had to test things, like our favourite fruit and our favourite ice cream. Miss Lisa says that now she has tried hokey pokey ice cream it is definately her favourite. Check out her look of delight as she samples it for the first time.
